Baseball roundup: Boomers go to Chickasha
The Boomer baseball team tries to get something going this week in the Washita Valley Classic at Chickasha.
The Boomers go into the tournament off a 14-6 loss to Clinton on Monday.
Action opens today with the Boomers taking on Verden at 5 p.m.
On Thursday, the Boomers take on Lawton High at 3:30 p.m.
A doubleheader is set for Friday with the Boomers playing Western Heights at 2:30 p.m. and Chickasha at 4:45 p.m.
Only the top three in each six-team pool advances to Saturday’s championship round.

Woodward’s seventh graders edged Seiling 7-5 on Tuesday night, said coach Matt Pruett.
Alex Alvarez was the winning pitcher and scored twice. Jake Baca and Riley Gaston each had hits and scored once.
In a game right before spring break, the Boomers scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to defeat Elk City 9-8.
Alvarez was also the winning pitcher in that game.
Riley Gaston, Alvarez, Justin Harvey and Casey Johnston had two hits each and Tanner Littau one.
The seventh graders go to Weatherford on Thursday.

Woodward’s JV team overcame a 6-0 deficit to defeat Clinton 8-6 in Clinton Tuesday.
The Boomers trailed 6-0 through four innings, then scored five runs in the fifth frame. Casey Covalt, Seth Heckart, Tyler Ebright and Josh Cook all had hits in the inning.
In the seventh, the Boomers added three more runs for the win. Ebright, Eric Luthi and Mason Semmel had hits.
Jacob Gilreath scored two runs in the game.
Covalt, the third Boomer pitcher, got the victory with two innings of work. Gilreath started and went three inning and Drake Smithton pitched two innings.
The Boomers will take a 6-2 record to the Vici Tournament on Thursday where they play Arnett in a 5 p.m. game.
