Kern's legislative pulpit

I see that Sally Kern is at it again.

Her most recent testimony comes from the pulpit of her office in the Oklahoma House of Representatives where she has let us in on her newest assertion that she is a self-avowed “cultural warrior for Judeo-Christian values.”

Scuze me while I throw up in my mouth a little bit.

As conservative as I am, she is a right-wing-wacko who went from being a teacher and the wife of a minister to the legislature and her naïveté shows.

I only favor her outspokenness inasmuch as I am a proponent of true free speech and since the Godless who wish to run any faith out of town are certainly making themselves heard, she comes in handy as a voice for the other side.

BUT, she is a sorry representative of Judeo-Christian values, if we are talking about real Christian values as I know them. You know the ones I’m talking about-unconditional love, forgiveness, non-violence, living by example, moderation in all things (including what we say) and so on and so forth.

Her smug statement regarding the homosexual agenda being a “worse threat” to America than terrorism or Islam showed me that she most certainly was not with me in the chow hall in 2004 with all those soldiers when a suicide bomber walked in and blew us up. If she were, she would understand what real terrorism looks like, smells like and how it burns in your memory.

Sorry Sally, I am not waking up these days having nightmares about the homosexual agenda and neither would you if you had ever really been anywhere and seen anything real.

She is using something very close and personal to everyone who has lost a soldier or a loved one in any one of the terrorist attacks of recent years. And all just to make her own hollow point and to me, that is unforgivable.

And all so she can be a “warrior” for Judeo-Christian values. That demonstrates NOTHING to me except that she knows nothing about anything called values or she would have thought before she made and now defends her preposterous and ill-thought-out statement.

Additionally amusing is her sloppy back peddling as she tries to get her point across that she is not judging anyone she just wants them to know right from wrong.

HUH?

This is a woman who is carrying around a handgun (something I support totally since I am a licensed person), but who thinks it is OK that she gets off with a slap on the wrist for her “forgetfulness” when she sauntered into the Capital Building, not once but twice with it in tow. Meanwhile another equally innocent man is jailed for the same lapse in memory.

I ask this, was this right?

Apparently Sally needs a lesson in right and wrong. A real “warrior for Judeo-Christian values” would have “taken up her cross” and insisted that she be treated equally.

Furthermore, I deeply resent her use of the term “warrior” when this woman has not suffered in the way a true warrior does. I am reminded, when I think of that term, of my fellow soldiers each time we went on missions in Iraq who faced the fears and had the courage of a real warrior. Ones who had to choose every night we went out,to take that risk again and again and again.

Kern is no warrior and shame on her for again, stealing from the vocabulary of those who really do fight battles in that most tangible sense, to exalt herself....again.

And if that is not enough evidence of what is really behind Sally Kern’s “grab the headlines” statements she tends to make, then let’s just talk about her total, ditsy lack of common sense.

I have spent a good part of my life armed to the teeth as a result of my professional choices. I was trained to always know and be aware of my weapon and never “forgot” that I had one.

Frankly, it begs the question that if this woman can’t even remember that she’s packin’’, should she really be licensed? And I might add, Kern did not “forget” that she was packin’ just once but twice, once in June and once in July. Now, come on people...this is not a lapse in memory, it is a statement that she believes she is above the law. Besides, if she did forget twice then she needs to be examined to make sure she is not suffering from some mental deficiency or if she’s just really that dumb.

I’m all for Sally Kern throwing herself on the altar of morality if that’s where she wants to die politically, but perhaps she should revisit the definition and find out what right and wrong is all about before she goes about defining that for the rest of us.

I guess she could write a book and call it the “Gospel According to Kern”.

I will take up arms all day long (and remember that I have them with me) and defend her right to be an idiot. Furthermore I will defend her right to stand up and let everyone in Oklahoma and those in other states who are laughing at us, know how ridiculous she is when she exercises her right to free speech.

That is what this country is about and why I served.

If Kern suddenly DOES something that looks Christian, I will be there to cheer her on.

What I won’t do is swallow her self-righteous brew that she spews from her perch of entitlement and praise her name for being a Christian when she has yet to really demonstrate those values in any real way.
