Woodward, Okla. — Wilma Gean Wingo, daughter of Eddie Martin Jackson and Daisy V. Cook Jackson was born in Woodward, Oklahoma on October 18, 1926 and passed from this life in Deaconess Hospital, Oklahoma City on December 22, 2012 at the age of eighty-six years and two months.
Wilma grew up and went to school in the Vici schools and would have graduated at the top of her class in 1945. However she left school to marry her sweetheart, Donald Wingo on July 15, 1944 in Woodward, Oklahoma. They began their journey together on the Wingo family farm southeast of Vici. But do to Donald’s work as a carpenter they lived in several Texas towns and Oklahoma City in the early part of their marriage. In September 1956 they bought a house in Woodward and moved there with their first three daughters. As their family grew, Donald added onto the home and this was the family home until Wilma’s health required her to move in with daughter, Renee in Oklahoma City. Wilma was baptized as a young woman at the Vici Christian Church and later transferred to the Woodward First Christian Church. Wilma spent her time taking care of the home and her children. She was dedicated to her family and always showed them her love and care. She shared her love of flowers both in the garden and many house plants with her family. Her extended family will always remember her wonderful homemade noodles that were a part of all holiday meals. Outside the home she worked at the Oak Park School cafeteria, as the lunch lady for several years until Donald retired. She and Donald spent time camping and fishing in both Oklahoma and Colorado. She was always willing to help dress and cooked whatever he shot or caught and the family ate deer, turkey, goose, duck and lots of fish. In later years she developed an interest in playing slot machines which gave her much enjoyment. Reading novels and watching the birds and squirrels at Renee’s house also occupied a lot of her time. In the last few years she had many health problems but always fought her way back to get strong and come home. This last time was just too hard and she has now left us to move to her eternal home with Jesus and her family that preceded her in death. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Corky Buczinski, Dorotha Ward, Delta Reith, brother-in-laws, Archie Ward, Dale Reith, Willie Wingo, in-laws Eunice (Wingo) Speck, Earl Wingo and Chester Speck.
