Mary Evelyn (Aikens) Cox, age 66, died Friday, November 22, 2013. She was born June 19, 1947 in Amarillo, TX to John Edward and Mary Evelyn (Hamilton) Aikens. She was a 1965 graduate of Tascosa High School in Amarillo and was a cheerleader at Panhandle State in Oklahoma. She was a dance instructor before promoting to a stay at home mother, taking care of her two daughters. She took care of her daughter Angela who had brain cancer for over 21 years. This took her into a career of care giving, always lending to those family and friends dealing with cancer and being a "Mimi" to kids who needed her. She moved from Woodward to OKC to be near her daughter Nikki in 1999. She enjoyed fishing and visiting the casinos, but loved being with her grandkids and around people. She was preceded in death by her daughter Angela, her parents, sister Gail Carter, niece Paula Aikens, nephew Cole Carter, father-in-law James Cox and sister-in-law Dana Tagge. She is survived by her daughter Nikki Mitchell and husband Joe of Mustang, grandchildren Madison, Hunter and Haley, brother James Andrew Aikens and wife Nancy, sister Rena Roberts and husband John and by brother in law Charles Carter. Also by nieces and nephews; Kelley Freeman and husband Dan, James Andrew Jr., Cecilia Mary Johnson, Nancy Aikens and husband Ted Golwacki, Matthew Joseph Aikens and his son Matthew Aubrey, Charles Kirkland Carter and wife Pam, Kimberly Gail Carter, Amy Lynn Dikes and husband Barry and Michael Dennis Roberts and wife Holly and numerous other family and friends. Memorial Services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at McNeil’s Funeral Service, Mustang, Oklahoma.
