Woodward, Okla. — Floyd Melvin King, of Sharon, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the age of 77. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 12, 2013 in the First Baptist Church of Woodward with the Reverend Jay Custar officiating.  Interment will follow in the South Persimmon Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 11, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 6:00pm.  Viewing will take place at the church before the funeral service also.

He was born on March 4, 1936 in Hydro, Oklahoma to Russell and Janie Southerland King.  He graduated from Hydro High School in 1954 and entered the Air Force.

On June 12, 1961 he was married to Shirley Keltch of Sharon at South Persimmon Baptist Church.  They had two children.  Shelley Kay was born on Sept. 19, 1961 and Steven Allen was born on November 14, 1963.

During Floyd’s twenty-year career in the Air Force the family lived in a variety of places. Floyd was stationed in Texas, Nevada, Spain, Wake Island and Turkey.  The family was assigned to Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Alaska, and South Dakota.

After retirement from the Air Force, Floyd and Shirley built a home southwest of Sharon.  Floyd worked at Otasco, Boiling Springs State Park, NL Acme Tool, Jayco, and finally for the City of Woodward.  He managed the City Warehouse for the city of Woodward and he took great pride in the fact that he saved the city thousands of dollars by purchasing items in bulk and distributing them to the various city offices.

After his retirement from the City of Woodward, Floyd spent his time watching TV, and attending the activities of his two grandchildren, Jerad and Kristy Noble.  They were his pride and joy.  He was a faithful member of Crown Heights Baptist Church and later the First Baptist Church of Woodward.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of the home;  daughter, Shelley and her husband Jerald Noble of Beaver; son, Steven King Kent of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren: Jerad Noble of Guymon and Kristy Noble of Beaver; his brothers and their wives: Earl and Barbara King of Weatherford, TX; Dean and Sue King of Cleburne, TX; and LeeRoy and Marge of Fairfield, California;h his Keltch family: Aletha Baker, Jackie Hamill, Tom Keltch and Bonnie and Kenny Castor. Special friends Jim and DeAun Tait of Cordell and Andy Tait of Weatherford, OK and Jamie Tait Potter of Clinton.  He is also loved and remembered by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.  His in-laws, Elmer and Leecy Keltch, a brother-in- law, Jim Hamill, and sister-in-law, JoAnn Keltch.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the children’s ministries of First Baptist Church, Woodward or First Baptist Church of Beaver.
