Woodward, Okla. —       Stella Beth Bruce was born on August 30, 1930 to John and Gwen Brosh in the Shattuck Hospital.   She went to Ivanho School and Shattuck High School. As she grew up on different farms around Shattuck they settled on her grandfather's farm.  In 1948,while working on Reynold's Ranch, she met a cowboy named James Bruce.  On June 6, 1949 she was united in marriage to James J. Bruce.  They lived on a farm near Catesby for some 30 years.  To this union two children were born: Norma Jean Oglesby and Michael Bruce.  They have four grandchildren: Justin Bruce, Benny Oglesby, Ambra Bruce and Virgil Oglesby.  They also had three great grandchildren: Esther, Josiah and Peter Oglesby.  Stella Beth Bruce is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, son-in-law, Ben Oglesby and daughter-in-law, Midge Bruce. She is survived by one sister, Anna Mae Shatto, two brothers, John A. Brosh and Joseph C. Brosh.  She was preceeded in death by her husband, James J. Bruce, her three sisters, Norma Jeanne Brosh, Carol Ann Thomas and Madge Sobolik.  Stella and her husband were both baptized in the year 1955 as Jehovah's Witnesses.  They both continued faithful to their beliefs throughout their lives.  She was a happy home maker and farm helper to her husband.  She worked as a nurse's aide for many years and cooked and washed dishes at the nursing home.  She also cleaned houses for different people and businesses but she was happiest serving her God,Jehovah.  She tried hard to follow Christ example of preaching and talking about her hope in the Bible.



 

     Graveside services were held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shattuck Memorial Cemetery in Shattuck, Oklahoma with Jerry Ward and Joey Hite officiating. The family entrusted the Mason Funeral Home of Shattuck, Oklahoma with all of their arrangements.  Condolences may be made to the family at www.masonfuneralservice.com
