Johanna (Jody) Mae Jones

Woodward, Okla. —     Johanna (Jody) Mae Jones, 55 year old Woodward resident died Friday, August 16, 2013 in Woodward. Memorial services were held Monday, August 19, 2013 in the Billings Funeral Home with Reverend Donetta Hunter officiating.

    Johanna (Jody) Mae Brant was born in Woodward Oklahoma on January 23, 1958 to John Thomas and Juanita (Phillips) Brant.  Johanna spent her early childhood in Ft. Supply attending school through 8th grade.  In her freshman year she moved to Dodge City, KS to live with her Aunt Stella and Uncle Harold Phillips.  She graduated from Dodge City High School with the class of 1976.  On November 14, 1981 Jody was united in marriage to Michael Elliot in San Diego, California.  Jody was blessed with two sons, Jeff and John.

    Jody worked in the medical claims department in the insurance field.  She had many hobbies which included reading and watching old television shows. Especially the Andy Griffith Show.

    Jody is survived by two sons Jeff Elliot and John Elliot, both of Moore, her mother Juanita Boatright; one sister Carolyn Frazier and husband Edward, step-sister Peggy Evanoika and husband David of Montrose CO., step-brother Raymond Main of Alaska, two special cousins Teresa Parker and Scott Gaston and several other  cousins and host of friends.

    Jody was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, John and Thelma Brant.

  • Norman Vanderslice Norman Vanderslice

    The world lost a special person on Thursday, July 17, 2014. Norman Vanderslice was born on December 29, 1971 in Woodward, Oklahoma, to Ronnie and Norma (Semmel) Vanderslice.  He grew up on the family farm in Fargo, Oklahoma and graduated from Fargo High School in 1990.  Norman was a farmer who loved being outside. He took care of running the family farm his entire life. Norm loved coyote hunting with his friends and was known for always helping others. The greatest love of his life was his son, Colton, who he proudly raised. They lived on a farm west of Woodward.

    Clarence “Melvin” Wilson, 95 year old, True Woodward Cowboy, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at his home.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Bible Baptist Church with the Reverend Jesse Johnson and Jerry Nine officiating. Burial will follow at the Shirley Cemetery in Leedey under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

    Ival Lee Miller, Camargo, Oklahoma resident, died on July 8, 2014, at the Seiling Hospital at the age of 93 years, 1 month and 27 days. Ival was born May 11, 1921, at Dr Harris’ office in Camargo, to Maurice Denton and Leota Myrle (Wing) Miller.

    Charles E. “Gene” Lewis, 78 year old rural Woodward resident, died Thursday, July 10, 2014 at his home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Rock Church Cemetery, northwest of Woodward.  Military rites will be conducted by the United States Army. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Karrie was born November 2, 1958 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Dean and Moeta McDonald Newman. She is an Office Manager for Retail Sales and a member of Mutual Methodist Church in Mutual, Oklahoma.
