Minnie Arlene (Blaine) Terbush

Woodward, Okla. — Minnie Arlene (Blaine) Terbush was born on July 9, 1936 in Lenora, Oklahoma to Marvin Otto and Pearl (Hart) Blaine. She went to be with her Lord and Savior the morning of March 16, 2013. She grew up on the Blaine family farm north of Lenora. She started to school in a one room schoolhouse.

She graduated from Taloga High in 1954 where she held a class office every year of school. She attended Panhandle A & M College in Goodwell, Oklahoma where she met her mate for life, Victor Terbush. After knowing each other for only 6 months, Arlene married Victor on June, 4, 1955 at the Lenora Methodist Church. They returned to college, and after Victor’s graduation, the Navy came next. They soon welcomed their first two children Janet Lynn and Victor Leroy II. Upon his discharge, the family moved to “The Farm” located north of Rosston. They became dairy farmers from 1958-1972. Her keen sense of humor was always present on the farm. She would tease Victor that they should name their dairy, “Oleo Acres-The Cheaper Spread”. After moving to the farm, they added two more children, Nancy Jean and LuAnn Elaine making their family complete. She loved being on the farm. “Working side by side” and doing the farm chores with Victor was her life. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family. She believed in raising her children in a loving Christian home, setting firm boundaries for them, and being consistent with enforcing those boundaries. She claimed that by doing so, not only could she enjoy being with her children, but others could too. These types of values helped her earn Laverne’s Mother of the Year in 1972 and F.H.A. Farm Family of the Year in 1971. The Rosston United Methodist Church has always been the main part of Arlene’s life. Over the years she helped in the church, doing various jobs when needed. After the kids were grown, she worked at General Inc. in Laverne, the Harper County Assessor’s Office in Buffalo and was Officer In Charge- Postmaster for the Rosston Post Office. Her favorite job, however, was being Grandma. She filled her home with love and laughter for her family. Her smile and sweet personality will be missed by those who loved her. Arlene is survived by husband, Victor Terbush; four children, Janet Cook and husband David of Laverne, Vic Terbush and wife Lynette of Woodward, Nancy Goodner of Laverne, LuAnn Crigler of Laverne and friend Frank Gillispie of Arnett; ten grandchildren, Doug Cook and wife Kristin, Amber Cook, Greg Cook and wife Stefani, Valarie Holcombe, Cynthia Terbush, Trey Terbush and wife Danielle, Elizabeth Terbush, Amy Lu Shuman and husband Dandy, Natalie Bockelman and husband Jeremy, and Jeremy Goodner; eleven great-grandchildren (and 3 on the way), Corban, Paige and Dagan Cook, Sam Cook, Kolby Holcombe, Brody and Brock Terbush, and Haleigh, Hannah, Houston and Holly Bockelman; three siblings, brother Cecil Blaine of Pasadena, TX, sisters Arlis Smith and Reeta Avery of Enid; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Greenwood and husband Gary of Greenville, TX, and Marie Melone and husband Pat of Dallas, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Pearl (Hart) Blaine; mother and father-in-law, F.H. “Terby” and Tessie Terbush; great-grandson, Gavin Blaine Shuman; sister-in-law, Peggy Blaine; brothers-in-law, Russell Smith and Albert Avery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rosston United Methodist Church, c/o Tammy Terry, P.O. Box 350, Laverne, Oklahoma 73848.
