Woodward, Okla. — Lydia Noblitt 71, of Woodward passed away in Woodward on Monday March 18, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. March 21, 2013 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Howard Haralson and Brother Lee Dowling officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Lydia May Simpson was born November 29, 1941 in Raydon, Oklahoma to Edward Jefferson and Martha Jane (Fowler)Simpson. Lydia grew up on ranches in Kansas and Oklahoma. She was the oldest of seven children.

Lydia and Elzie were married August 29, 1957. They met when he began working on the same ranch where her father worked near Hardtner, Kansas. Their wonderful sense of humor helped them maintain a happy home throughout the years. They planned to have a large family, but they couldn’t so they enjoyed raising everyone else’s children.

After their marriage, Lydia kept house and helped Elzie with some of the farm chores. In 1960 they moved to Oklahoma where they worked at Alabaster Caverns for a while before moving to Woodward. Elzie worked for the Highway Department and Lydia worked at Trego’s Western Wear and at Fruit of the Loom. She also did many things at Jack’s Used Cars, cared for the Marlett and the Newby children, and assisted in the care of the disabled.

On March 30, 1968 Lydia and Elzie were baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served with the adults in Relief Society, the teenagers in Mutual and with the children in Sunday School and Primary. She also served in auxiliary presidencies and was Primary President. She taught three generations of some families. Her favorite calling was teaching the young children. She made sure they had something to take home to help them remember the scriptural lessons they had learned. How they loved her!

She is survived by her two sisters, Linda and Jack Ellis, and Helen Love of Woodward; four brothers, Jessie Simpson of Enid; Jeff and Mary Simpson; Donald Lee Simpson, and Jerry Simpson of Granbury, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Twila Potts of Washington; and Elsie and Bob Williams of Kaw City; several nieces, nephews, great nephews and great nieces, other relatives and a host of friends.
