Woodward, Okla. — Virgil M. Smith, 85 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in the Woodward Regional Hospital.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel.  Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the Blackwell Cemetery in Blackwell.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.


Virgil Monroe Smith was born on March 18, 1928 in Lamont, Oklahoma to Weller Elmer and Dora (Holt) Smith.  He was raised in the Lamont area and attended school there.  Virgil was united in marriage to Betty Jean Kinslow in the late 1940's and they were blessed with two children, Gary and Glenda.  They made their home in Blackwell for a short period of time before moving to Ontario, California.  Virgil worked as an Electrician in California until retiring in 1987.  Virgil moved to Tulsa in 1987 and lived there on and off until moving to Woodward in the mid 1990's.


Virgil was united in marriage to Patsy Jean Miller Holton his high school sweetheart on September 14, 2001 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  They made their home in Woodward and have resided there since that time.  They loved traveling, camping and being with each other.  Virgil loved to hunt and fish and he became an avid golfer after his retirement.


He is survived by his wife Patsy Smith of the home; one son, Gary Smith and wife Mikkie of Victorville, California; three step-sons, Paul Tebow and wife Fran of Tulsa, Daniel Tebow and wife Alma of Ponca City, Gregory Tebow of Bay City, Michigan; step-daughter, Karla Battles and husband Shawn of Catoosa; one brother, Rydall Prillman of Pond Creek; sister-in-law, Thelda Smith of Woodward; four grandchildren, Anthony Smith, Katy Smith, Don Johnson, Jimmy Johnson; one great-granddaughter; ste[-grandchildren, Chad Tebow and wife Amy, Tricia Sterling and husband Scott, Tammy Koehn, Austin Battles, Bradon Battles, Haylee Battles; two step-great-grandchildren; special nephew and niece, David Smith and wife Janelle of Woodward, Joan Marusich and husband Larry of San Dimas, California; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, his parents and a daughter Glenda in 2001.
