Woodward, Okla. — LaRoy “Chuck” Vernon Bailey, 74 year old rural Fargo resident, was born March 26, 1939 at Shattuck, Oklahoma, to Loys and Margretha (Toellner) Bailey. He attended school at Fargo, graduating with the “Class of 1959”. After graduating High School he went to mechanics school at Okmulgee, Oklahoma where he completed the certification requirements to be an auto mechanic.



On June 20, 1959, LaRoy was united in marriage to Marilyn Janet Steinert at Shattuck, Oklahoma. To this most happy union one daughter, Melodie Dawn, was born. The couple made their home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Chuck worked at JC Penny’s as an auto mechanic in Oklahoma City. The family returned to Fargo, Oklahoma and Chuck was a farmer and worked at the Coop driving a propane truck before retiring. He was a volunteer fireman and EMT.  In his free time, Chuck enjoyed going Friday night to the Woodward Senior Center to dance. He can be described as a very friendly, neighborly, loving, joyful and giving person with one request “Don’t Tell Anybody”.  His love for his family and friends will always be dearly cherished.



Mr. Bailey died May 5, 2013, at his home north of Fargo, at the age of 74 years, 1 month and 9 days.



Chuck was preceded in death by his wife Janet Bailey, parents Loys and Margretha Bailey, sisters Mahala Pittman and Ruth Story and his brother Lee, nephews William Story and Floyd Pittman, niece Kim Brink, sister-in-law Nancy Bailey and brother-in-law, Arlo Pittman. Chuck is survived by daughter, Melodie Dawn Price and husband Justin of Fargo, Oklahoma; two brothers, Victor Edwin of Fairview, Oklahoma and Fred DeJuan of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren, Bailey and Lane; great-grandchild, Tinley; many nieces and nephews, other family and a host of friends.



Graveside services were held on Thursday May 9, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at the Fargo Cemetery, Fargo, Oklahoma. Condolences may be made to the family at shawfuneralhome.net. Shaw Funeral Home of Shattuck
