Woodward, Okla. — Robert E. “Bob” Gardner passed away on December 31, 2012 at 83 years old. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Quinlan United Methodist Church with the Reverend Scott Ware officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Top Cemetery with the military providing full military rites. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Billings Funeral Home in Woodward.
Robert E. "Bob" Gardner was born June 28, 1929, in Quinlan, Oklahoma, the youngest out of 10 children to John and Mary Gardner. His schooling was five years in District #92 Plainview rural school, Quinlan three years, then graduated from Mooreland in 1947. Bob went on to Oklahoma State University for two years, then spent two years in the United States Army. While in the service, he fought in the Korean War for 14 months. He married Charmaine Welch from South Dakota in 1951 and they celebrated their 61st anniversary in June. They lived in South Dakota until 1965, when they moved back to Oklahoma. Bob farmed for several years, but ranching was his real love.
He leaves his wife Charmaine, his son, Kelly Gardner and wife Pam of Elk City, OK and daughter Kimberly Smith and husband Greg of Mooreland, OK, three grandchildren, Kale Rogers and his wife Jana of Cordell, OK, Bristi Cure and husband Hunter of Dundee, TX, and Kelsi Arnold of Canyon, TX, and three great grandchildren Kray, Kreed and Halli.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Quinlan United Methodist Church or the Wounded Warrior Project with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
