Woodward, Okla. —
Winnie Mae Tennant, 76 year old Woodward resident, died Thursday, March 6, 2014 at her home in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, Lincoln Campus with the Reverend Jason Dirks, Ed Evans and Tony Haskins officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Winnie Mae (Wilkerson) Tennant was born on April 22, 1937 in Fort Worth, Texas to Crawford Lee and Eulala “Betty” (Beck) Wilkerson. Winnie moved to Washington and worked as a Beautician. She was united in marriage to Richard Floyd “Dick” Tennant on November 4, 1967 in Spokane, Washnington. They made their first home in Spokane and moved to Tioga, North Dakota in 1968. They continued living in Tioga until 1972, moving to Welliston, North Dakota They lived in Evanston, Wyoming before moving to Woodward in 1982. Dick preceded her in death on January 18, 1996.
She was a long time member of the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. Winnie and Dick were Baptized in January of 1983. Winnie served her Lord and her church faithfully, touching lives for generations. She was a mother and grandmother to all and a dear friend to many in the community. Winnie will always be remembered for the multitude of meals she cooked and served to the church and community. She will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by two cousins, Dovie Rodriguez and Diann Davis; her church family and many friends.
Besides her husband Dick, she was preceded in death by her parents and her step-father, Harry Floyd Hadnett.
Memorials may be made to the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund or the Children’s Fund with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
