Woodward, Okla. — Jack Wayne Hicks 59 year old resident of Woodward, Oklahoma passed from this life on July 12, 2013 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Jack was born on November 12, 1953 in Wichita, Kansas to Jack Walter and Esther Nellie Heck Hicks.
Jack attended Dodge Elementary and Mayberry Middle School in Wichita. He attended Augusta High School and later receiving his GED. Jack also had two years of college.
On February 14, 1987 Jack married Debra Fay Thimmes. Jack was blessed with one daughter, Dalesta Nellie. The family made their home in many states, finding they enjoyed Louisiana and Colorado as their favorites. Together they operated Jack and Debra’s Window Cleaning. Jack was a member of the AA and a longtime instructor.
Jack enjoyed fishing and was a member of the VFW. On January 5, 1971 Jack joined the United States Navy and was based in North Fork, Virginia. He earned the rank of E-2. On November 8, 1971 he was honorable discharged.
Jack was preceded in death by parents, Jack and Esther Hicks, wife, Debra Hicks, great-grandson Antonio Roberto Luis Ohle and two infant brothers, Kenny LeRoy Dorsey and Jon D. Dorsey. Survivors include, daughter Dalesta Grunnet and husband Michael of Wichita, Kansas; sister’s Ruth Smith of Wichita, Kansas, Paula Manes and husband Barney of Hulbert, Oklahoma, Marie Layton and Betty Behrens of Wichita, Kansas, Jessie Shepler and husband Dub of Andover, Kansas and Barbara Strong and husband Bob of Fargo, Oklahoma; special friend Christine Poore of Woodward, Oklahoma; 1 grandson, Bradlee Ohle; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 15, 2013 in the United Methodist Church, Fargo, Oklahoma with interment following in Elmwood Cemetery, Woodward, Oklahoma. Condolences may be made to the family at shawfuneralhome.net
