Woodward, Okla. —

Van Mac Schickedanz, 89, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at his home in Saginaw, Texas. Funeral services will held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday August 22, 2013 in the First Baptist Church of Saginaw. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. Friday August 23, 2013 inthe Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Billings Funeral Home in Woodward.

Van was born in Ellis County, Oklahoma to Grafton and Mable Schickedanz on December 14, 1923. He was the eldest of two sons. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and graduated from West Texas State University in Canyon. He was an ordained Baptist deacon.

He married the love of his life, Laurine Hohweiler, in 1942. They were married 62 years. He had a happy demeanor and was patient and generous with his time and affection. Pa's lap was a favorite spot for all the family's children. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Survivors: Children, Wayne (Linda), Dean (Shirley), Kay Hoffman (Lindell), Frank (Carol), Lea Ann Dalton (Mike), Roy (Brenda); 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Stanley (Lisa); and numerous extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Laurine; son, Thomas; grandson, Tim; granddaughter, Blair Hoffman; and great-granddaughter, Arielle
