Larry W. Young

Woodward, Okla. — Larry W. Young, 68 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at his home in Woodward.  The family will have a receiving of friends at the Billings Funeral Home on Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.  The United States Navy will provide military honors at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m.

 

Larry Wayne Young was born on May 1, 1945 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Lawrence William and Tessie (Eversole) Young.  Larry grew up in Tulsa and attended Tulsa schools, graduating from Tulsa Edison High School in 1963.  He later attended the University of Tulsa and the Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa.  Larry was inducted into the United States Navy in 1964.  He served his country during the Vietnam War, earning two Bronze Stars.  He was honorably discharged in 1968.

 

He was united in marriage to Mary Lynne Crowley on December 13, 1969 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  They made their home in Collinsville and lived in the Tulsa area for a number of years before moving to Woodward.  Larry was the Merchandise Manager for “The Who” and the “Rolling Stones” until he began serving the Lord and started promotion and booking Christian artists.  He later became a professional driver for many various groups and organizations.

 

Larry served on the Advisory Council for six years at the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Richmond, Virginia and faithfully served as an usher at the Church on the Move for 15 years.  He has attended Living Word Fellowship in Woodward since moving to Woodward.  He loved being a church usher, fishing, NASCAR, but most of all he was happiest behind the wheel of a bus driving various groups.

 

He is survived by his wife Lynne Young of the home; one daughter, Traci Lynne LaCone and husband John; one son, Joseph LaCone III; three grandchildren, John Joseph LaCone IV, Cameron Michael LaCone, Mackenzie Rayne LaCone; other relatives and friends.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Woodward Home and Health Hospice with the funeral home accepting the contributions.

    Christina T. Leist went to meet her Savior and Friend on April 18, 2014. She was born February 7, 1928 at her Grandmother’s home in Woodward, Oklahoma, the first of 10 ten children born to Richard and Pearl Teten. Her father was one of OG&E’s original lineman and foreman and her mother was Court Clerk in Woodward County for almost 20 years. She was proud that her family had twins and triplets, 9 girls and one boy. She graduated high school in Woodward and attended one year at Oklahoma University, majoring in art.

    Juanita Roots, 79 year old Woodward resident died Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Grace Living Center in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Ray Don Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

    Leone Dell (Davis) Thompson, daughter of Jess and Esther M. (Waggoner) Davis was born near Mulhall, Oklahoma on February 16, 1911 and passed from this life in Vici, Oklahoma on April 15, 2014 at the age of 103. Leone was raised in Covington, Oklahoma attending Covington Grade School. Then moved to the farm west of Vici, Oklahoma her freshman year. She graduated from Vici High School with the class of 1930, then attended Northwestern State Teachers College. She graduated college with a Bachelor of Science degree.
