Woodward, Okla. — Francis Madeline Lemasters Perkey Chason

 

Francis Madeline Lemasters Perkey Chason, 89, resident of Collinsville, Oklahoma, was born on January 25, 1924, in Kirkland, Texas to Elwin and Corine Lemasters, and passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, in Franklin, Tennessee.

 

Madeline attended Bethel School and graduated from Dill City Schools, in 1942. She married George W. Perkey on October 1, 1943 in Elk City, Oklahoma. Their son, Rex Stephen Perkey, was born on February 18, 1950, in Sentinel, Oklahoma. They made their home in Washita county and farmed along side their families. George preceded Madeline in death on January 4, 1961, at their family home. Madeline married Charles V. Chason on June 15, 1963 in Dill City, Oklahoma. Their daughter, Elwina Gaye Chason, was born on September 11, 1964 in Sentinel, Oklahoma. They made their home in Woodward county where Charles worked for the State Department of Agriculture, until retirement. Madeline was active in many programs during her youth and attended Draughns Business School in Oklahoma City. She had worked for Bell Telephone in Elk City, as a switchboard operator. Madeline moved to the Woodward area where she was an active 4-H leader, active member of Ft. Supply & Crown Heights Baptist Churches and substituted for various positions at Ft. Suppy Public Schools. Madeline moved to Collinsville, Oklahoma in 2007, and lived with Rex & Becky Perkey. This allowed her to spend her last years with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, which were the love of her life. Each year, Madeline would spend time in Franklin, Tennessee with Elwina Chason. They would go antiquing, do genealogy research and spend time with her family there.

Madeline was preceded in death by her parents, Elwin and Corine Lemasters, and husband, George Perkey.

Survivors include her son: Rex Perkey and wife, Becky, of Collinsville, OK; her daughter: Elwina Chason of Franklin, TN; her sisters: Maxine Thomas and Sybil Clayton, both of Cordell, OK, and Dorthey Hines of Irvin, TX; grandchildren: Stephanie Dobbs, Brandy and Jeremiah Boatman, and Jed Perkey of Collinsville, OK and Brad Raby of Franklin, TN; great grandchildren: Brittany and Dylan Dobbs, Austin and Miracle Boatman, Marshall Bailey, Avery and Kaden Perkey of Collinsville, OK; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members across the United States.

Funeral Services were held for Francis Madeline Lemasters Perkey Chason at  3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Grace Baptist Church, Dill City, OK

with Rev. Jimmie LV Prickett of Dill City & Jim Steenbergen of Woodward, officiating.  Burial followed in the Canute Cemetery, Canute, OK under the direction of Musick-Varner Funeral Home, Cordell, OK.
