Woodward, Okla. —
Cecil Reynolds, 92 year old Woodward resident died Sunday, August 11, 2013 in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 at the First Assembly of God Church in Woodward with Pastor Jonathon Gibson officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Cecil Rudolph Reynolds was born on February 5, 1921 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Claude Ralph and Catherine (Mersch) Reynolds. Cecil was reared in the Oklahoma City area and attended Central High School. Cecil was inducted into the United States Army on October 7, 1942. He served his country in Central Europe at Rhineland, Sicily and Southern France. Cecil received numerous citations, including, one Silver Star, two Bronze Service Stars, one Bronze Arrowhead, the Distinguished Unit Badge, the Croix de Guerre with Palm Orders of the Day 1st French Army. Cecil was honorably discharged on September 18, 1945.
He was united in marriage to Eudora Imogene “Jean” Carter on June 19, 1942 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They made their home in Oklahoma City before moving to Woodward.
Cecil had many hobbies which included bowling, collecting old model cars, watching old westerns and listening to country music. He also loved attending the Crown Heights Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter Darlene Swanson and husband Don of Woodward; one son Gary Reynolds and wife Joyce of Wichita Falls, Texas; daughter, Vickie Smith and husband Rocky of Moore; one sister, Janice Ruth Sautter of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren Michelle Murray and husband Scott of Woodward; Christi Savage and husband Reed of Edmond; Gary Reynolds Jr. and wife Donna of Oklahoma City; Debbie Reynolds Cole of Oklahoma City; Shannon Reynolds of Ohio; Desiree Smith of Moore; Rachel Regouby and husband Anthony of Wichita Falls Texas; Christina Haney and husband Rob of Wichita Falls, Texas; six great -grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded by his parents and his wife Jean on March 20, 2013.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mercy Hospice with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
