Woodward, Okla. —

Roger Roberts, 77 year old Mooreland resident, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013. Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2013 in the Mooreland City Cemetery with Harry Billings officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Billings Funeral Home.

Roger Uel Roberts was born on September 26, 2013 in Woodward to Ralph Oren and Dolly Martha (Cherry) Roberts. Roger attended school in Mooreland, graduating with the class of 1954. Roger served his country in the United States Air Force. On February 8, 1958 Roger was united in marriage to Virginia Mae McHard in Woodward.

After serving his country Roger came back to Mooreland to work at the full service filling station his father opened in 1929. He spent his entire working career at the service station. Roger was a very active member of the Mooreland community. He served over twenty years on the Volunteer Fire department serving two years as Fire Chief. He was also a member of the Lions Club and Mooreland Chamber of Commerce. Roger also enjoyed hunting and fishing and traveling after his retirement.

Roger is survived by his son Rick Roberts of Mooreland ; one daughter Dana Roberts of Fayetteville, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Virginia in 1984.

Memorials may be given to Oklahoma Medical Research with the funeral home accepting the donations.
