Woodward, Okla. —
Ronald D. Jessup, 77 year old Woodward resident, died Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Grace Living Center in Woodward. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Freedom Cemetery, north of Freedom. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ronald Dean Jessup was born on April 9, 1936 in Rosston, Oklahoma to James and Eunice Henrietta (Koch) Jessup. He attended the Laverne and Freedom Public Schools, graduating from Freedom High School in 1954. Ronald attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University and graduated with his Teaching Degree in 1958. He was inducted into the United States Army in 1958 and served his country as an Airplane Mechanic. Ronald was honorably discharged in 1961.
Ronald was united in marriage to Wanda Mae Stewart Craig on November 3, 1961 at the First Christian Church in Freedom, Oklahoma. He coached football and taught History at the Helena State Training School for Boys for nine years. He also worked for Hayter Tire Company and he owned the Station in Freedom before going to work for Woods County District 2 until his retirement on May 1, 1998.
He is survived by one daughter Nancy Glennie and husband Raymond of Woodward; two sons, Joe Jessup and wife Patricia of Freedom, Bob Craig and wife Rhonda of Mutual; brothers, Roger Daughhetee of Freedom, Dave Jessup and wife Susan of Parker, Colorado, one sister Davetta Delinger and husband Steve of Ft. Collins, Colorado; grandchildren, Andrea and Beau Murlin, Chris and Stacy Glennie, Zach and Jenna Craig, Hilda Craig amd Mark Freeland, Cody and Errin Spencer, Kristin and Trevor Baird, Tim and Wania Jessup, Cody Jessup and wife Tori, Jenny and Dakota Province, Will Jessup; 17 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Wanda Mae Jessup on October 22, 2010, and one son Jeff Jessup.
