Donald Eugene "Donnie" Branstetter

Woodward, Okla. —

Donald Eugene "Donnie" Branstetter, 64 year old Gage resident passed away at the Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck on Friday, June 21, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in the First Baptist Church of Ft. Supply with the Reverend Bill Tindell officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Donald Eugene Branstetter was born to Harold Tinker and Ottilia Elizabeth (Gesell) Branstetter on August 21, 1948 in Higgins, Texas. Donnie was one of ten children. He had three brothers, Merrell H. Branstetter and wife Yvonne of Woodward; Eldon Branstetter of Arnett; Jack Branstetter and wife Rita of Tangier; Alice Lou who is deceased; JoAnn Cox of Woodward; Judy Mackey and husband Wayne of Gage; Lois Soliday and husband Bernard of Ft. Supply; Peggy Eubanks of Edmond; Marie Britt and husband Marty of Troy, Pennsylvania.

After high school, Donnie worked as a parts man starting for NAPA and then to Oren’s for several years.

In 1972, Donnie married Diane Soliday and they had two children, Dusty Dawn and her husband Mark Stallings and their son Draydon all from Kremlin. Donnie had a baby son Darren Eugene Branstetter who passed away as an infant.

In 1993, Donnie went into heavy construction, leaving Oklahoma and traveling many states. In 2001, while working construction, he met Janice Miller in Kansas and they left for Texas working on new jobs. In 2006, together they bought a home north of Gage and rebuilt it and made it a beautiful new welcoming place for all their family to come and visit. When Donnie came back off construction, he went into business with his brother Jack Branstetter doing custom swathing and baling, farming and taking care of cattle.

Donnie has two step-sons, Jim Miller and wife Denise from Wichita, Kansas, Kevin Miller and wife Daphne of Willow Park, Texas; ten grandchildren and three great-granchildren.

Donnie and Janice raised chickens, turkeys, quail, pheasants and big gardens. He enjoyed working hard and loving all the things he had not got to do since he was a child.

Donnie will be dearly missed by his numerous friends and family.

    Edith Ann Nichols, a former resident of Woodward, was born May 17, 1934 in Rives, TN. She died Saturday, July 19, 2014 at her home in Dyersburg, TN.

    She was a faithful Christian with ultimate faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Lorena Tubbs of Memphis, TN and a sister, Patsy Nell Tubbs.

  • Norman Vanderslice Norman Vanderslice

    The world lost a special person on Thursday, July 17, 2014. Norman Vanderslice was born on December 29, 1971 in Woodward, Oklahoma, to Ronnie and Norma (Semmel) Vanderslice.  He grew up on the family farm in Fargo, Oklahoma and graduated from Fargo High School in 1990.  Norman was a farmer who loved being outside. He took care of running the family farm his entire life. Norm loved coyote hunting with his friends and was known for always helping others. The greatest love of his life was his son, Colton, who he proudly raised. They lived on a farm west of Woodward.

    Clarence “Melvin” Wilson, 95 year old, True Woodward Cowboy, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at his home.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Bible Baptist Church with the Reverend Jesse Johnson and Jerry Nine officiating. Burial will follow at the Shirley Cemetery in Leedey under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
