Don Crowl, 86 year old Woodward resident died Friday, February 21, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Donald Eugene Crowl was born on September 18, 1927 Scott City, Kansas to Walter Melvin and Mary Myranda (Scott) Crowl. Don spent his early childhood on the family farm northwest of Woodward. He attended school in Tangier and graduated from Tangier High School in 1945. In 1947 Don became a Contract Technician for the United States Department of Defense and the Dynalectron Corporation working in Okinawa, Japan. While working overseas he met the love of his life Eiko “Candy” Takahashi. Don and Candy were married on April 10, 1963 in Tokyo, Japan. They made their home in Japan. Don and Candy were blessed with one daughter Martha K. In the early 1970's Don and his family returned to the Woodward area and he started Don’s Mowing Service. Don began his second career with the United States Postal Service where he worked until his retirement.
Don was interested in anything with a motor from boats, cars and tractors to airplanes. He enjoyed going to Fly-ins and would often be seen enjoying a day at the lake water-skiing up until just a few years ago. Don truly loved his family and loved spending time with them.
He was a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge.
Don is survived by one daughter Martha Walters and husband George of Katy, TX; two grandchildren, Sydney and Logan Walters; several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly; other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Candy on August 26, 2005, and one sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and R.V. Austin.
