Vernie Ray Rush, 88 year old resident of May, Oklahoma died Sunday July 6, 2014 in Gage, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 in the Fargo Nazarene Church with the Reverend Jerry Harrison officiating. Burial will be in the May Cemetery under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Vernie Ray Rush went to be with the Lord Jesus on July 6, 2014. He was the oldest son of Dakota Ray Rush and Sylvia Pearl (Griffen) Rush. He was born March 17, 1926 on his family’s farm at Ft. Supply, Oklahoma. He served his country in the Navy during World War II. He married Della Mae Powers on December 18, 1948 at the Methodist Church parsonage at Gage, Oklahoma. To this union, three children were born, Linda, Danny and Deanna. Vernie worked as a ranch hand, for Halliburton, Coca-Cola Bottling Company and Farmers Co-op until retirement. Vernie made his family’s home south of May, Oklahoma where he farmed and ranched.
He is survived by his wife, Della of the home; two daughters, Linda Brewer of Buffalo; Deanna Simms of Gage; nine grandchildren, Regan and Nancy, Leslie and Jennifer, Regina, Misty and Jeff, Tony, Traci, Skyla, Felecia and Aaron, Jon and Cierra; twenty-one great grandchildren, Carrie, D.J., Lacy, Cassie, Jeni, Lana, Steven, Henry, Salena, Alon, Lucina, Linsey, Jacy, Levi, Adden, Adren, Summer, Pasley, Joey, Taylor and Braylon; three great great grandchildren, Xavior, Aileena and Alexia; one sister, Katy Land and husband Sam; one brother, Jim Rush and wife Dorothy of Lawton; many more family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law; Delmer and Pearl Powers; two sisters, Helen Rush and Faye Allen; one brother Ernest Rush; brother-in-law, Jim Powers; son-in-law Phil Simms and son Danny Rush.
