Woodward, Okla. —

Chuck DeVon, 58 year old Enid resident formerly of Woodward, died Monday, February 10, 2014 at his home in Enid. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, February 14, 2014 in the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, Lincoln Campus with Reverend Jason Dirks officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Charles Ernest DeVon was born on February 23, 1955 in Phoenix, Arizona to Charles Steven and Betty Jean (Bock) DeVon. Chuck attended school in Woodward and graduated from Woodward High School. Chuck enlisted in the United States Army serving for the next several years. Chuck was united in marriage to the love of his life Cynthia Kay Snider, they made their home in Woodward. To this union three daughters were born, Aryn, Makensie, and Morgan. Chuck worked in the oilfield briefly before reenlisting in the army in Enid where he and Cindy made their home. Chuck transitioned through the roles of Sergeant and then was promoted to Staff Sergeant from Headquarters Battery (FA) then to Brigade Personnel Sergeant. Chuck supervised all enlisted personnel transactions.

Chuck loved his wife and daughters and loved to spend time with his family. Most recently his biggest joy was his grandson Gabe. He also enjoyed golfing, and playing guitar with the boys in the band. He was very dedicated to the Oklahoma National Guard.

Chuck is survived by his wife Cindy of the home; three daughters, Aryn DeVon; Makensie DeVon; Morgan DeVon all of Enid; mother, Betty DeVon of Woodward; sisters, Jolene Whalen and husband Don of Woodward; Deborah Booth of Woodward; brothers, Steve DeVon of Mooreland; Kirby DeVon of Woodward; grandson, Gabriel Kayden Charles Otero; mother-in-law, Arlene Lyon and husband Lee of Woodward; sisters-in-law, Sheryl Woods and husband BG of Gage; Kathy Reese and husband Nelson of Calumet; Connie Mead and husband Wayne of Woodward; Shannon Ball and husband Mark of Sharon; brother-in-law, Robert Lyon and wife Laura of Woodward; daughter by choice, Brittany Dowler and her son Zyler of Enid; stepmother-in-law, DeeLois Snider of McPherson, Kansas; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by father, father-in-law Chet Snider, grandmother, Jessie Sheehan.

Memorial contributions may be made to Enid Relay for Life or to the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
