Dora Bell (Kelly) Hamilton

Woodward, Okla. — Dora Bell (Kelly) Hamilton, 87-year-old Woodward resident, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at Billings Funeral Home on Saturday, June 1st at 10:00 a.m.

Kelly Hamilton was born October 18, 1925 in Harmon, Oklahoma, to William and Irene (Custer) Kelly. She grew up on the family farm in Harmon, along with her four brothers and three sisters. Kelly graduated from Arnett High School, where she was a crackerjack basketball player. On January 28, 1947, she married Clyde AHam@ Hamilton, Jr. and to this union, four children were born: Jack, Anita, Clyde and Bonnie.

Clyde and Kelly lived in Garden City, Kansas, then Wichita, and finally in Woodward, where Clyde worked as a painter until he retired. Kelly first worked as a waitress at the Pollyanna and then began her 30-year career as a waitress at the Oasis Steakhouse in Woodward. Kelly enjoyed quilting, knitting, and crocheting, but especially loved being with her grandkids and attending family get-togethers.

Kelly Hamilton is survived by two sons, Jack Hamilton and wife Lauri and Clyde Hamilton, all of Woodward; two daughters, Anita Freerksen of Oklahoma City and Bonnie Larkey and husband Buck of Woodward; and one sister, Evelyn Lake of California.

She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; Jeff Hamilton and wife Claudia of Destin, Florida; Joey Hamilton and wife Liana of Las Vegas, Nevada; Jeremy Hamilton and wife Wendi of Panama City, Florida; Jason Hamilton and Brandi Moser of Woodward; Scott Spray of Yukon; Ross Spray and wife Daylene of Edmond; Brett Spray of Woodward, John Myers and wife Malissa of Fargo; Jack Myers and wife Connie of Woodward; Kelly Myers of Woodward: Crystal Larkey of Geary; Larissa Larkey of El Reno; Michelle Larkey of Colorado; and twenty-five great-grandchildren, along with many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Lee, Burt, Earl, and Claude; and two sisters, Ava Bryant and Nellie Cook.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Faith Hospice, with the funeral home acting as custodian.

    Jerome Roscoe Dimmitt was born on May 14, 1958 to Loren & Merle (Foster) Dimmit at Sublette, Kansas the youngest of nine siblings.  The family made their home in Sublette, Kansas. Jerome graduated from Sublette High School with the class of 1976. After graduation he went to work for a custom cutter following the harvest and later in Garden City doing cement pouring and finishing. The bulk of his working years was spent in the oil field business working in at least three different states.

    Edith Ann Nichols, a former resident of Woodward, was born May 17, 1934 in Rives, TN. She died Saturday, July 19, 2014 at her home in Dyersburg, TN.

    She was a faithful Christian with ultimate faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Lorena Tubbs of Memphis, TN and a sister, Patsy Nell Tubbs.

  • Norman Vanderslice Norman Vanderslice

    The world lost a special person on Thursday, July 17, 2014. Norman Vanderslice was born on December 29, 1971 in Woodward, Oklahoma, to Ronnie and Norma (Semmel) Vanderslice.  He grew up on the family farm in Fargo, Oklahoma and graduated from Fargo High School in 1990.  Norman was a farmer who loved being outside. He took care of running the family farm his entire life. Norm loved coyote hunting with his friends and was known for always helping others. The greatest love of his life was his son, Colton, who he proudly raised. They lived on a farm west of Woodward.

    Clarence “Melvin” Wilson, 95 year old, True Woodward Cowboy, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at his home.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Bible Baptist Church with the Reverend Jesse Johnson and Jerry Nine officiating. Burial will follow at the Shirley Cemetery in Leedey under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
