Woodward, Okla. — Lincoln resident, Olivia Wells, 90, passed away Wednesday July 10, 2013 at Gramercy Hill Assisted Living.

Funeral service is 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 15th at College View Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lincoln, Nebraska with Pastor Terry Bock officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Memorials may be given to the College View Church Women’s Ministries or to the Good Neighbor Community Center.

Olivia was born December 21, 1922 at home in rural Woodward County, Oklahoma. She attended school in Fargo, 14 miles west of Woodward, where she graduated from High School. She attended Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska and then taught school back in Oklahoma near Woodward. She married Harold Wells soon after they both survived the Woodward tornado of 1947, the worst to ever hit Oklahoma.  They had one son, Ryan. Olivia’s mother and then Harold’s father lived with the family through Ryan’s years at home. Olivia was a professional woman, rising to the post of Deputy County Superintendant. She also helped her husband with the ranch and was very active in her church and the community. She was known for her sewing abilities. After retirement summers were spent near South Fork, Colorado and then later winters were spent in South Texas. Olivia took up oil painting and had a drapery business. She and Harold lived several years in Siloam Springs, Arkansas close to her three brothers before moving to Lincoln to be close to son Ryan and his family.  

Olivia is survived by son, Ryan Wells and his wife Rebecca of Lincoln; 3 grandchildren, Sheila Wells of Hastings, Lisa Wells of Omaha and Johnny Wells of Omaha; sister, Georgia Dale of Three Oaks, MI; 3 sister-in-laws, Elenora Stricker, Ruth Stricker, and Mary Margaret Stricker of Siloam Springs, AR.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Ralph Stricker, George Stricker, and Harold Stricker and sister, Orlene Moore.
