Woodward, Okla. — Sherry Lumpkin, 61 year old Woodward resident, died Thursday, November 1, 2012 as the result of an automobile accident.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Ed Dowty officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.

 

Charlene Mary “Sherry” Lumpkin was  born November 10, 1950 in Jamestown, North Dakota; she was the daughter of Richard W. Hanson and Margaret Conley.  She grew up in Minniapolis, Minnesota and North Dakota.  Sherry attended school in Mesquite, Texas until the ninth grade.  On February 14, 1995, Sherry was united in marriage to Vernon Lee Lumpkin Sr in Elk City, Oklahoma in the Fairview Baptist Church.  They made their home in Elk City.  They also lived in Sayre, Woodward, Fort Supply and Gage.  Sherry worked as a waitress and cook.

 

She was a member of the New Covenant Church in Woodward.  She enjoyed playing bingo, doing word searches, playing Yatzee and slot hand held games.    Sherry loved her family and her pet dog (Baby).  She also loved driving and spending time together with her husband.

 

She is survived by her husband Vernon Lumpkin Sr of the home; one son James Wells and his wife Veda of Granite; four daughters, Victoria (Sissy) Stinnett and husband David of Woodward; April Carter and husband Luther of Amarillo, Texas; Kathy (Kat) and husband Robert Chambelain of Joplin, Missouri; Charlotte (Lisa) Jones of Clinton; Shelia Wells and Destry Christenson of Woodward; her mother Margret Hanson of Kerrville, Texas; twenty-five grandchildren, Alexis, Britney, Abby, Jaxson, Bradly, Kamber, Jr. Dane and Dante Wells of Granite; Jessie and Dora Wells of Buffalo; Allen Beam and Amy Goodwin of Woodward; Austin Beam and Miles Beam of Woodward; Chantel Wilson and Micheal Ashlock of Laverne; Reva Carter and Dalton Carter of Amarillo; Angel Shaw of Clinton, Brandy Shaw of Elk City; Joshua Shaw of Elk City; Candice Heilaman of Atoka; Dustin Wells of Alva; Lilly Fields of Woodward; Christa Drake, Jacquie Drake, Stephen Drake all of Joplin, Missouri; fourteen great grandchildren; one brother, Richard and Janet Hanson of Sweetwater, Oklahoma; sisters, Barbara and Ronnie Johnson of Florida, Robin Dean of Kerrville, Texas, Judy Hanson of Kerrville, Texas, Debbie and Louie Nordman of Odessa, Texas; nieces, nephews,  other relatives and many friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her father Richard W. Hanson and mother Margaret Conley.
