Patricia Corine Gann

Woodward, Okla. — Patricia Corine Gann was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma on August 12th, 1943. She was one of six children born to Raymond and Lucille Compton. Pat passed from this life on October l7th, 2013 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 70.

Pat grew up in Arnett, Oklahoma, attending all 12 years of school at Arnett Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1961. She then attended Southwestern State University for two years, transferring to Panhandle State University for one year. She moved to St. Louis, Missouri where she worked for a Pathologist at Washington University.

On August 19, 1962, Patricia married Jimmie Gann in the Arnett Methodist Church. On January 14th, 1972 they welcomed their daughter, Krista,into their lives.

Jim and Pat lived in Goodwell, OK their first year of marriage while attending college. In 1963 they moved to St. Louis for 4 years while Jim attended dental school. In June, 1967 they moved to Woodward, OK to open

their dental practice. In 2001 they retired and sold the family business. Pat remained active in the in the Woodward community. In February 2011 they moved to Oklahoma City, OK.

Pat loved traveling, playing golf, flying, decorating, fast cars, sports and spending time with her daughter, Krista. She was always happy being outdoors, unless it was windy!

Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Jimmie Gann, parents, Raymond and Lucille Compton, father and mother-in-1aw, OB and Ardell Gann, brothers, Monte Compton, Max Compton, Theron Compton and Gary Compton, grandparents Joe and Mary Gott and Maroin and Stella Compton.

She is survived by one daughter Krista Gann of Oklahoma City, OK; sister, Winona Derrick of Arnett, OK, sisters-in-law, Joan Compton of Springfield, CO and Sammie Compton of Lone Grove, OK; cousins, Belva, Mervin and Marlene Compton of Oklahoma, and 12 very loved nieces, nephews, other  relatives, and a host of lifetime friends.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 26, 2013 in the First United Methodist Church, Woodward, Oklahoma, with interment in Harmon Cemetery.

    Jerome Roscoe Dimmitt was born on May 14, 1958 to Loren & Merle (Foster) Dimmit at Sublette, Kansas the youngest of nine siblings.  The family made their home in Sublette, Kansas. Jerome graduated from Sublette High School with the class of 1976. After graduation he went to work for a custom cutter following the harvest and later in Garden City doing cement pouring and finishing. The bulk of his working years was spent in the oil field business working in at least three different states.

    Dudley Blaylock was born January 29, 1945 in Higgins, Texas to Edith May and Dudley Jasper Blaylock.  He passed away July 16, 2014 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 17 days.

    Edith Ann Nichols, a former resident of Woodward, was born May 17, 1934 in Rives, TN. She died Saturday, July 19, 2014 at her home in Dyersburg, TN.

    She was a faithful Christian with ultimate faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Lorena Tubbs of Memphis, TN and a sister, Patsy Nell Tubbs.

  • Norman Vanderslice Norman Vanderslice

    The world lost a special person on Thursday, July 17, 2014. Norman Vanderslice was born on December 29, 1971 in Woodward, Oklahoma, to Ronnie and Norma (Semmel) Vanderslice.  He grew up on the family farm in Fargo, Oklahoma and graduated from Fargo High School in 1990.  Norman was a farmer who loved being outside. He took care of running the family farm his entire life. Norm loved coyote hunting with his friends and was known for always helping others. The greatest love of his life was his son, Colton, who he proudly raised. They lived on a farm west of Woodward.

    Clarence “Melvin” Wilson, 95 year old, True Woodward Cowboy, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at his home.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Bible Baptist Church with the Reverend Jesse Johnson and Jerry Nine officiating. Burial will follow at the Shirley Cemetery in Leedey under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
