Randall B. “Randy” Meyer

Woodward, Okla. — Randall B. “Randy” Meyer, 61 year old Fargo resident, died Monday, April 8, 2013 in the Woodward Regional Hospital.  Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 in the First Baptist Church of Woodward.  Interment will be in the Fargo Cemetery.   Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.


Randall Bryan Meyer was born on February 15, 1952 in Guymon, Oklahoma to Jimmie and Joyce (Ferris) Meyer.  Randy was reared in Texhoma and graduated from Texhoma High School in 1970.  He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Panhandle State University in Goodwell in 1974.  Randy went to work for the State Department of Agriculture and worked there until 1978 when he went to work for Farm Credit in Guymon.  He was united in marriage to Nancy Sue Persons on September 10, 1977 in Woodward, Oklahoma.  They made their first home in Texhoma until January of 1981 when Randy was asked to come work at the Farm Credit in Woodward.  He continued working there until he had to retire in 2012 because of his health.


Randy love the Lord with all his heart and was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church.  He served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and would always help anyway he could at the church.  Randy had coached the 4-H Horse Judging Team and won the state championship  in 1994 and finished 3rd at nationals.  He had a passion for horses and always had a special touch with any type of animal.  He was an accomplished artist, who loved spending time with his friends and family.


He is survived by his wife Nancy Meyer of the home; his parents, Jimmie and Joyce Meyer; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ralph and Christine Persons; two brothers, Mike Meyer and wife Rhonda, Rocky Meyer and wife Glynis, one sister, Carmen Meyer-Mireles and husband James; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Danny and Marlyn Persons, Dick and Jeannie Persons; nieces and nephews, Heidi Brown and Steve Hutson, Haley Persons and fiancee  Eric DeLong, Heath and Kelli Persons, Sarah Persons and Tim Whisennand, Lex and Amanda Meyer, Shea and Amber Meyer, Mandy Meyer-Glasse and husband Cary, Carlie Meyer-Gill and husband Phillip, Heath and Jessica Mireles, Hailey Meyer-Coffindaffer and husband Beau; great-nieces, Parker Brown, Hannah Brown, Jordan Querry-Persons, Lennon Whisennand, Mackenzie Persons, Maycie Coulson, Kooper Coulson, Keyara DeLong, Micah Meyer, Bristol Meyer, Annie Gill; great-nephews, Hayden Brown, Chandler Persons, Easton Persons, Trentyn DeLong, Keigan DeLong, Cason Meyer, Cade Meyer, Cooper Mireles, Quentin Glasse, Brooks Glasse; other relatives and many friends.


He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one nephew, Ryan Wade Persons.


Memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty Baptist Church or the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Fund with the funeral home accepting the contributions.

    Jerome Roscoe Dimmitt was born on May 14, 1958 to Loren & Merle (Foster) Dimmit at Sublette, Kansas the youngest of nine siblings.  The family made their home in Sublette, Kansas. Jerome graduated from Sublette High School with the class of 1976. After graduation he went to work for a custom cutter following the harvest and later in Garden City doing cement pouring and finishing. The bulk of his working years was spent in the oil field business working in at least three different states.

    Edith Ann Nichols, a former resident of Woodward, was born May 17, 1934 in Rives, TN. She died Saturday, July 19, 2014 at her home in Dyersburg, TN.

    She was a faithful Christian with ultimate faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Lorena Tubbs of Memphis, TN and a sister, Patsy Nell Tubbs.

  • Norman Vanderslice Norman Vanderslice

    The world lost a special person on Thursday, July 17, 2014. Norman Vanderslice was born on December 29, 1971 in Woodward, Oklahoma, to Ronnie and Norma (Semmel) Vanderslice.  He grew up on the family farm in Fargo, Oklahoma and graduated from Fargo High School in 1990.  Norman was a farmer who loved being outside. He took care of running the family farm his entire life. Norm loved coyote hunting with his friends and was known for always helping others. The greatest love of his life was his son, Colton, who he proudly raised. They lived on a farm west of Woodward.

    Clarence “Melvin” Wilson, 95 year old, True Woodward Cowboy, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at his home.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Bible Baptist Church with the Reverend Jesse Johnson and Jerry Nine officiating. Burial will follow at the Shirley Cemetery in Leedey under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
