Woodward, Okla. — John Walter Koenig passed away at his home in Banning, CA on November 9, 2012 at the age of 70. Born to Edward Walter Koenig and Emily Mary Koenig in Virginia Beach, VA on July 15, 1942, Mr. Koenig was raised in Benicia, CA and graduated from Benicia High School in 1960.After graduation he joined the US Air Force where he served for 12 years, and attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX. He worked for Big O Tires for more than 25 years where he was known for his leadership and integrity. Mr. Koenig treasured the outdoors and the mountains where he loved to camp and fish. He was an avid reader and found great joy in his morning coffee and newspaper. His passion for baking, woodworking, and painting offered a creative outlet and a way for him to share himself with those he loved. He was active in senior centers and arts groups in Elk Grove, CA and Paradise, CA. He favored his bicycle for transportation and exercise. He was a loving and generous father, and a loyal friend to many. Mr. Koenig is survived by his two daughters: Johna K. Koenig, and Shanna Koenig Camuso, and his son-in-law Glen D. Camuso. He’s also survived by his sister and brother-in-law: Jo Anne and Jon Marquardt, and their sons, Frank Marquardt and Paul Marquardt. Memorial services will be held on December 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Benicia Veteran’s Memorial Hall in Benicia, CA.
