Woodward, Okla. — Arthur B "Jack" Ellis, 91 year old Woodward resident, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 at his home in Woodward. Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2013 in the Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward. Military rites will be provided by the United States Army. Services are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Arthur B. "Jack" Ellis was born on January 20, 1922 in Cisco, Texas to William and Ada (Turknett) Ellis. Jack was reared in Antlers and Idabel, Oklahoma. He attended many schools in the Eastern parts of Oklahoma.
Jack was inducted into the United States Army on October 24, 1940. He served his country overseas and received numerous commendations. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Jack was very proud of his time in the military.
He worked as a self employed car salesman and had many hobbies which included sports of any kind and spending time with his family. He was an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan.
On December 7, 1979 Jack married Linda Simpson in Woodward, Oklahoma. They made their home in Woodward and have lived here since that time.
Jack is survived by his wife Linda Ellis of the home; two daughters Myrna Files and husband Harley of Velma; Jackie Downy of Velma; six grandsons; two granddaughters; six great grandsons and seven great granddaughters; two great-great grandsons and one great-great granddaughter; other relatives and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter Shauna Edison, one sister, and six brothers.
