Woodward, Okla. — Charles Smith 79, passed away March 1st.

Charles Clement Smith, born to Elzy & Gladdis Smith on Mar. 8, 1933 in Jacksboro, Tex. He attended school in Jacksboro till the family moved to Big Springs Tex. In Jan 54 he joined the Army and was stationed in Fort Bliss. After basic he was stationed in KaiserSlauding Germany for 29 months. He received honorable discharge in Jan. 57 and returned home to Big Springs. Later that year Charles started work B.B. & M Oil Co. He spent 40 years in the oil field working for various companies and traveling to many places. Among them was Prudo Bay in Dead Horse Alaska for 3 months in 1975 and Libya in the Sahara Desert, Africa for 5 months in 1981.

In 1961 he married Orri Deloes Armatrout in Woodward, OK. They made their home in Woodward, OK and had 2 children, Justin and Kathy. Charles later worked for Bob Drake at Western Sand and Gravel Co. Operating heavy equipment.

On Feb 18, 1996 he married Nancy Smith (no relation) in Monett, MO and they have lived in Woodward since then.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Hachene, two brothers Raymond and James, sister and brother in law Emma and John Zettle.

He is survived by his wife Nancy of the home, his children Kathy, Justin and wife Mindy,

2 step-children Rick Nixon and wife Judy, Billie Welty and husband Justin, six grand-children, and 13 great grandchildren.

Charles was well liked by everyone who knew him and much loved by his family. He will be a part of our hearts forever.
