Woodward, Okla. —   Marvilla Jo Kirbie died on her 82 birthday, May 25th, 2013 at her home in Woodward, Oklahoma from cancer.

  She was born May 25th, 1931 in Mutual, Oklahoma to Quincy Merrill Simpson and Fayette Belle Johnson Simpson.  After her father was killed at a young age she grew up with her mother Fayette “Bomba” Simpson and her sisters Anna Ruth Simpson Waggoner and Wanda Jean Simpson Potts.

  Marvilla graduated from Woodward High School in 1949 and was united in marriage to M.D. “Budd” Kirbie  on  September 4th, 1954 at the First Methodist Church in Woodward.  She was employed at OG&E until she left her position to allow her husband the opportunity to pursue a career there as Marvilla always put the needs of others before her own.  On July 7th, 1966 Marvilla and Budd were blessed with their only child, Gregg D. Kirbie while residing in the Oklahoma City area.

  In 1987 Marvilla and Budd retired and returned to Woodward where Marvilla did the accounting for Boiling Springs Golf course after her husband Budd took the position of course manager.

  She is survived by her sister Anna Ruth Simpson Waggoner.  Her son, local businessman Gregg D. Kirbie, owner of Kirbie Repair Shop and his wife Christine Kirbie, grandchildren Skyler E. Kirbie Wilson and spouse Jordan Wilson,  Kylie J. Kirbie, and Preston P. Kirbie.  She is also survived by great grandson Wyatt E. Stewart, son of Kylie J. Kirbie.

  She is preceded in death her husband, M.D. “Budd” Kirbie, her parents, Quincy and Fayette Simpson, her brother George Phillip Simpson, and her sister Wanda Jean Simpson Potts.

  The Service will be held at the Freewill Baptist Church in Woodward on Thursday, May 30th at 2:00pm with Dr. Allen Mabra officiating.  After the service she will be interred at Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward, Oklahoma.

   In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Woodward Regional Home Health and Hospice.

  Remembrances may be made at
