William Dalton Butler III

Woodward, Okla. — William Dalton Butler III died in his home on April 5, 2013 in Glendale,AZ.

Bill was born April 19, 1948 in Enid, OK to Zoe Elizabeth (Baker) and William Dalton Butler II.

Bill lived many places growing up. He graduated high school from St. John’s Military School. He entered the US Navy in 1967. He was proud to have been an airborne communicator with the VP-31. Bill had a variety of careers, radio personality, CNC lathe operator, cargo agent for America West Airlines and material management specialist for NCBH. Bill retired in 2006 due to his health.

Bill loved to learn new things. He taught himself how to do stained glass work and wire wrap jewelry. He enjoyed  playing guitar, fishing and gold prospecting. Some of his greatest enjoyment was going to Alaska and prospecting for gold and attending his first Butler family reunion in 2010. Bill was an avid San Diego Chargers football fan.

He married  Ricki Ann Rickard on June 21, 1997. They made their home in Woodward,OK before relocating to AZ.

Bill is survived by his wife Ricki. His daughter Jennifer Trussell, husband Clay and their children Miley Logan, Warren and Natalie Claire, Hattiesburg,MS. A sister Betsy Depenau of Hot Springs,AR. Nephew Jesse McMahon of Hot Springs, AR. His aunts Barbara Baker, Glendale,AZ , Randy Jackson (husband Scott) Cathage,NC, Lila Grissom, Florence,AL. His uncle Johnny Butler and wife Sarah, Florence,AL. Mother in law Billie Rickard, Medicine Lodge, KS. Brother in laws Bud Rickard and wife Pam, Isabel, KS and Dirk Rickard, Wichita,KS. His sister in law Tonya Taylor and husband Eddy, St.Charles, IL.. As well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Bill is also survived by his dog Pepper, cats Zoey and Salem.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, uncle Robert Baker and father in law Bruce Rickard.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial will be held in Woodward, OK at a later date.
