Roger Ray Ruttman was born on a farm north of Woodward, Oklahoma on October 1, 1938, the son of Harold Wayne and Jennilee Mae (Wyatt-Tune) Ruttman. Roger spent his entire life in Woodward, graduating from Woodward High School in 1958. During his Senior year of high school, he became employed at Razien Metals and became supervisor of the East pipe yard before he left to start his own business of Roger’s Welding Service in 1974. In 1991he went to work for the City of Woodward, working there until he retired in 2010.
He was united in marriage to Tressia Trent on July 22, 1958 and they had 55 wonderful years together and were blessed with three children, LaRhonda Jo, who died in infancy, Robert Wayne “Robbie” and Jody Sue.
Roger was a charter member of the Woodward Wranglers Square Dance Club, member of Faith United Methodist Church where he had served on many committees, and was presently on the Board of Trustees. He was always a person to help others and could usually be seen pouring coffee and tea at any event which the church was sponsoring until he was unable to help due to ill health. Roger’s enjoyments included many things, camping, cycling, square dancing, building things and “tinkering.” He also enjoyed the many ball games and activities of son Robbie and granddaughter RaLonda, OU football and the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball games and he especially enjoyed going to Branson, Missouri each year on their family vacations.
