More than 100 motorcycle enthusiasts rolled out their bikes on Aug. 11, 2012 for a benefit poker run in support of Woodward Firefighter Steve Smith, who is undergoing treatment for liver cancer. The poker run was organized by the Red Knights of Oklahoma, a motorcycle group comprised of active and retired firefighters.
"That's what the Red Knights do, we help firefighters and firefighters' families and burn victims," said Steve Jones, who is state association president for the Red Knights. "It's a brotherhood, so we came to help out a brother."
Through entry fees for the poker run, bids on silent auction items after the run, and other generous donations, the Red Knights were able to present Smith with a check for over $8,300 to help with his medical and travel expenses.
