Christmas bazaar scheduled

Woodward, Okla. — Those in the market for some unique Christmas gifts are in luck as the Woodward Farmer's Market will be holding a Christmas Bazaar Dec. 14 and Dec. 15.

Kathy Moore, the Farmer's Market public relations officer, said, "The bazaar will be held in the brand new community room of the Trinity Lutheran Church."

Moore listed some of the one-of-a-kind items that will be featured at the bazaar.

"They'll have baked goods, arts and crafts, beautiful gourd art, jewelry, Christmas wreaths, and much more," she said.

Richard Kahoe, president of the Woodward Farmer's Market, also spoke on the diversity of the wares offered.

"We have hand sewn items, barbed wire wreaths, potted herbs and plants, baked goods, jams, jellies, candies, products like that," he said.

Kahoe himself will also be featuring some unique handcrafted walking sticks.

"I'll have around 50 walking sticks, all kinds from all over the country," he said. "We have several diamond willow from Alaska, as well as some birch from Alaska, mesquite from southwest Texas, and various kinds of hickory and oak from Missouri. They're all unique and they're all different; of course using nature's materials entails that they're inherently unique."

Kahoe said those who patronize the bazaar will have the added bonus of knowing they're helping support a local organization.

"A percentage of sales go towards supporting the farmer's market," he said.

And for those particularly interested in helping support the local farmer's market, they'll have an opportunity to join the organization as a grower or just a supporter.

The bazaar will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15 at Trinity Lutheran Church, which is located at 1518 14th St. in Woodward.

"People should come out to get some unique items they won't find anywhere else. It'll be a great opportunity for Christmas shopping," Kahoe said.
