Woodward, Okla. —
He did it.
Woodward born and raised tattoo artist Joey Hamilton has won the popular SPIKE television reality challenge show, Ink Master.
Hamilton, who resides and works in Las Vegas at Club Tattoo, won the third season of the show after being put through many and various tattoo challenges where he beat out 15 other artists, some who are among the best around the country, according to show producers.
For his win, Hamilton receives a cash prize of $100,000, a feature article in the premiere tattoo publication Inked and the ultimate bragging rights title of ‘Ink Master.’
Hamilton is still stepping in the clouds and does not have any immediate plans to change any part of his life, he said.
“It’s not sunk in yet,” he said. “Now (in November) we are going to have a huge party. Boomer!”
There was no hint, not even a tiny one about where Hamilton’s star might be shining next. But his smile will be shining in Woodward from November 21 through 28, said Hamilton’s friend and tattoo mentor, Rodney Folsom.
Folsom is the owner and operator of the well known tattoo shop in Woodward, Paper Street Tattoo Company.
Folsom was key to Hamilton’s entrance into the world of tattoo art when the pair met and became friends in the military, Hamilton said.
“I am very proud of Joey and what he has done,” Folsom said. “This is a really big deal and him coming from Woodward being in the national news and stuff.”
Folsom said Hamilton will be available for tattoos at Paper Street Tattoo for a few days while he is home visiting for Thanksgiving.
“That is when we will be able to really relax and celebrate,” he said.
