Woodward, Okla. —
SEILING--The 28th annual Seiling Open Rodeo will be held this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Flying W Arena.
Rodeo activities will begin at 8 p.m. each evening, according to the Seiling Chamber of Commerce website (www.seilingchamber.com).
The website notes that the Seiling Rodeo is a Texas Cowboys Rodeo Association (TCRA) sanctioned rodeo which offers a variety of events including bareback, saddle bronc, calf roping, ladies breakaway roping, steer wrestling, team roping, ladies barrel racing, and bull riding.
However, roping and riding aren't the only events that the rodeo offers. There will also be mutton bustin' on Thursday night and a calf scramble and a wild cow milking contest on both Friday and Saturday nights.
The rodeo also includes a little princess contest at 7 p.m. on Thursday and rodeo queen horsemanship contest to be held at 7 p.m. on Friday. Also on Friday there will be a Little Mr. and Miss Buckaroo Contest for children up to 2 years old and a Mr. Cowboy and Miss Cowgirl Contest for children ages 3- to 5-years old.
Other community events include the Downtown Rodeo Parade at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, followed by a hot dog feed. The meal will be by donation and will be served until 12:30 p.m. Also following the parade will be a salsa recipe contest along with a “hottest looking table” contest. There will also be a dunk tank for those looking to make a splash.
After rodeo events on both Friday and Saturday nights, there will be dances at the town park from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., with the Jake Bowers Band performing.
