Woodward, Okla. —
A town hall meeting on the City of Woodward's "Envision Woodward" comprehensive plan will be held on Aug. 6.
The meeting is set for 6 p.m. in the Pioneer Room and community residents are invited.
City organizers said the compressive plan will "establish the foundation for decisions about land use, infrastructure, housing, transportation, and city finances for years to come. It serves as a policy guide, or roadmap, for decision-making by public officials and city staff.
The plan will do the following:
1. Solicit feedback from residents and business owners about the desired future of Woodward. Feedback and participation from the community is critical to creating a successful plan.
2. Provide predictability in land use development. The plan will include a Future Land Use Map that will provide the foundation for decisions about new development, rezoning requests, and redevelopment.
3. Prioritize projects so that City funds can be responsibly and predictably spent. At its heart, the plan is the financial policy of the city. Having such a plan will allow public officials and the community, as a whole, to agree on and prioritize where money is spent.
The comprehensive plan helps guide the placement of new housing, new shopping and how city funds are spent.
