Flea market set Friday, Saturday

Woodward, Okla. — Children's Arena of Services will be holding its annual flea market this weekend at the Woodward County Fairgrounds.

Event Organizer Christi Waggoner said the market will be open Friday from 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

"We have some booths for both Friday and Saturday and some that are Saturday only," Waggoner said.  "So if they come on Friday, they will definitely want to come back on Saturday because we'll have even more items."

She said the market will feature a variety of items, including "homemade items, used items and brand new items."

"It's a typical flea market, we'll have a little bit of everything," she said.

For example, Waggoner said "an author of 2 children's books from Enid will be coming over and bringing her books and will probably do a signing."

"The Woodwardettes, through the OSU Home Extension program, will also have a booth offering homemade baked goodies," she said.

The Woodward Masonic Lodge will also be at the market, running a concession stand, she said.

Waggoner said the flea market is a fundraiser for Children's Arena of Services (CAS).

"The money we get from booth rentals goes back to the community," she said, noting it goes to fund the various family programs offered by CAS each year.

"We just had our Baby Safety Shower in April and we have a Make and Take Craft Fair in June," she said.

CAS also sponsors an annual "Rally Round Children," in which various community organizations come together to offer fun and games for children, while providing child safety information to their parents.

"It is because of the support we get from the community, like through the booth renters (at the flea market), that we can keep having these free events for children and families," Waggoner said.

If you would like to help support the CAS programs, Waggoner said there is still time to rent a booth space at this weekend's flea market.

"We have a few spots left," she said. "But the quicker they can let us know, the better."
