Woodward, Okla. —
Woodward Education Foundation representatives made the rounds on Friday to deliver good news to several teachers.
Those teachers were selected to receive grants as part of the spring Grants For Teachers program provided by the foundation. In addition, one staff development award was also announced.
Combined the grants totaled just under $8,500 and combined with the near $10,500 given out in the fall, the foundation awarded around $19,000 in grants for the school year.
"The Education Foundation offers grants for teaching tools that are of a creative and innovative nature that the school system does not have the budget for," said Caryl Parsons, foundation president.
Since its establishment in 1989, the foundation has provided over $350,000 to local teachers in order to help with various projects.
The foundation operates on donations and 2 major fundraisers each year - a golf tournament and the Fall Follies program in the fall.
Donations are tax deductible.
For more information you can contact Parsons at 256-2084 at Big Dan's Steakhouse or you can send contributions to PO Box 1359, Woodward OK, 73802 with checks made out to the Woodward Education Foundation.
