Woodward, Okla. —
Folks looking for another opportunity to donate blood can head to Fort Supply on July 31.
The Fort Supply Fire Department is hosting a blood drive from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and anyone who is healthy and 16 or older is eligible to donate.
Each donor at the Oklahoma Blood Institute event will receive 2 free tickets to the Oklahoma City Zoo, a “Feel Fierce” t-shirt, free health screenings and donor rewards points.
“For patients in need of blood, there’s no summer vacation,” said John Armitage, M.D., president and OBI chief executive. “That’s why it’s crucial that blood donors take just an hour to donate blood. The lives of our friends, co-workers and neighbors may depend on it.”
OBI is the eighth largest non-profit blood center in America, providing every drop of blood needed by patients in 144 medical facilities across Oklahoma, including Woodward Regional Hospital.
Appointments are not necessary but can be made by calling 877-340-8777 or visiting www.obi.org.
For youngsters wanting to donate, 16-year-olds must weigh at least 125 pounds and provide signed parental permission, 17-year-olds must weigh at least 125 pounds and 18-year-olds must weigh at least 110 pounds.
