Laverne man dies in wreck

Woodward News

— A Laverne man died in a one-vehicle accident in Dewey County on Monday, said the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Scott Lee Marr, 38, died from head and trunk internal injuries, said the OHP. Marr was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old Laverne teenager, whose name was not released. The driver was treated and released at the Seiling Hospital.

According to the OHP report, the 1999 Fort Utility was going northwest on US HIghway 270, departed the roadway, came back on and eventually went into a broadslide, hitting a tree and overturning 1/4 time. Marr was pinned for one and a half hours before being freed by the Seiling Fire Department.

Both Marr and the driver were wearing seatbelts, the OHP said.

The accident happened a little after 4 p.m., .1 mile northwest of County Road 700 in Dewey County.

Trooper Trent Keasler investigated the accident with assistance from other troopers, Dewey County Sheriff's Office, Oakwood Fire Department and the Seiling Fire Department and Seiling EMS.
