Dueling pianos coming to Woodward

Woodward News

Woodward, Okla. — A night of musical and comedic entertainment is on tap as part of a dueling pianos fundraiser to benefit the Northwest Oklahoma Chapter of the American Red Cross.

The fundraiser, which is set for March 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Woodward Conference Center, will feature a performance of the "Michael and Amy Dueling Piano Show."

According to the musical duo's website, their show is "part music, part comedy, part theatre, part concert, part improve, and all chemistry."

In addition, the website notes that the husband and wife team seek to "engage and involve their audience with familiar music that spans and unites generations" as well as inspires the audience to sing along.

In addition to the musical performance, a press release states the upcoming Red Cross fundraiser will also feature a catered dinner and an auction with items ranging from guns to a trip to the National Finals Rodeo 2013 in Las Vegas.  The Red Cross also plans to honor a community hero during the event, recognizing him or her for service to the community.

Proceeds from the evening will be used to help the Northwest Oklahoma Chapter of the Red Cross to serve local clients in need following natural disasters, to put on blood drives, and to offer health and safety training programs.

According to a press release, last Fiscal Year the local Red Cross chapter provided emergency assistance to nearly 148 families across Woodward, Woods, Harper, Ellis, Dewey, Beaver, Texas and Cimarron counties.  The chapter also provided training to more than 3,800 people in performing CPR, first aid, and other life-saving skills.  In addition, the chapter also provided meals and drinks to hundreds of firefighters and first responders during the 2012 wildfire season.

"Each and every day, the Red Cross mission touches lives," Chapter Executive Director Mary Ann White said in the press release.  "The Red Cross is there for our community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and we could not be there without the support of our communities."
