Woodward, Okla. —
A Woodward woman died in a 2-vehicle accident between Woodward and Seiling on Monday afternoon.
Scierra Dawn Sovereign, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene with massive head, arm, leg and trunk injuries, said the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Sovereign was driving her Ford Taurus southeast on U. S. Highway 183 when for an unknown reason the vehicle went left of center and struck a freightliner driven by Charles William Lawson, 58, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, head-on, said the OHP in its report. The freightliner was going northwest on the highway.
Lawson was taken to Woodward Regional Hospital where he was treated and released, the OHP said.
Sovereign was pinned for 2 hours before being freed by the Woodward and Seiling fire departments, the OHP said.
The accident happened a little after 12:30 p.m., 22.8 miles southeast of Woodward, the OHP said.
The accident was investigated by Trooper Dustin McAtee with assistance from Troopers Phillip Ludwyck and Cody Rehder, the Woodward County Sheriff's Department, Woodward Fire and EMS and the Seiling Fire Department.
