Crystal Christmas puts out call for volunteers

Woodward, Okla. — It is that time once again, when Crystal Beach Park will be transformed into a winter wonderland for Crystal Christmas.

But to make the holiday light show a success, the Woodward Chamber of Commerce needs volunteers.

"We need about 750 for the entire run of Crystal Christmas," said Steve Jones, chair of the Crystal Christmas committee.

The holiday light festival will be open from Saturday, Nov. 17 through Dec. 31, he said.  The lights will be open for viewing from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. nightly and volunteers have the option of signing up to work in 2-hour shifts or the full 4-hours.

"We need people to run the front gate, back gate and the gift shop," Jones said.

Those working the front gate will greet and pass out brochures to visitors, those at the back gate will take donations and the volunteers in the gift shop will sell Christmas items and popcorn, Jones said.

Volunteers can be of any age, but if they are under 18 they need to have an adult with them, he said.

In addition, he noted, "We like for people to work in pairs."

Those that want to volunteer just need to contact Cynthia McAllister at the Woodward Chamber to sign up for one of the available dates.

"We will be taking volunteers from now through the end of Crystal Christmas," Jones said.
