Woodward, Okla. — The Woodward Artisan's League Holiday Express Craft Show is set for Saturday at the Woodward County Fairgrounds.

Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The event is a primary fund raiser for the Woodward Artisan's League, an organization with its beginnings traced back to the 1970s, said event organizer Sherry Liston. The organization sprung up in an effort to promote artistic interest in the area's youth, she said.

The event features one of a kind productions of local artists including ceramics, knitted creations, wood crafts, wreaths, spun yarn as well as pottery, Liston said.

"There are many more types of art that will be there as well," she said. "It will be a great place to start your Christmas shopping."

In addition to the all of the arts and crafts vendors, a bake sale co-sponsored by the Masons will also provide some home cooked goodies for those who want to take a little art home for dessert, Liston said.

"We will also be having a yarn spinning demonstration as well as a pottery demonstration," Liston said. "The Woodwardettes will handle the snack bar."

While most of the booths have been filled, Liston said anyone wanting to get a booth at the last minute could be squeezed in.

The proceeds from this once a year fundraiser go to support the Paul Laune Art Show held at the Plains Indians and Pioneers Museum as well as the Spring Youth Art Show. Funds from the event also find their way into the local art programs of schools in the area, she said.

"Everything that our venders have, has to have been produced by someone that has the booth," she said. So the hand crafted items are all made by the vendors themselves."
