Woodward, Okla. — Mooreland's new Air Products plant got its official kickoff on Thursday when community leaders gathered at the facility's dedication ceremony and open house.

Air Products is a Pennsylvania  based company which provides nitrogen and oxygen for upstream oil and gas production. Company officials said through this expansion the company is seeking to strengthen its position in the oilfield industry by supplying the materials needed for oil and gas production in Oklahoma and the surrounding Texas and Kansas areas.

After a luncheon, the kickoff included several keynote speakers, followed by a plant tour.

State Sen. Bryce Marlatt expressed appreciation to the company for its expansion into the area.

"Northwest Oklahoma is in a great position towards aiding America in its strives to become energy independent," Marlatt said.  "You won't find better employees or a better community in which to do business, and we thank you for your investment in Northwest Oklahoma."

Woodward Industrial Foundation Chairman Alan Case II said, "Citizens of Woodward and Mooreland are good people and strong workers. There's no doubt that here you will see your business thrive."

"This if the first plant we've built in the US in quite a while, and I assure you we're here for the long haul. We're here to serve the Northwest Oklahoma community by providing jobs and materials necessary for the oil and natural gas industry," said Nelson Squares, vice president of North America Merchant Gases at Air Products.

Squires added, “The new plant and improved customer service and logistics will assist in meeting increased liquid nitrogen demand for the region’s growing oil field services industry,”

The Mooreland facility is a continuous 24/7 operation designed to produce 250 tons per day of liquid nitrogen. In addition to benefiting the area by providing jobs and materials necessary to the oil industry, the company will also supply nitrogen to other local industries such as food and metal processing, company officials said.

Air Products has annual sales approaching $10 billion and has more than 20,000 employees in over 50 countries.
