Woodward, Okla. — As staffing issues continue to be a concern for Woodward Public Schools, the Board of Education will consider additional hires during its regular monthly meeting Monday night.

The Woodward school board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the School Administration Building at 1023 10th St.

The following are the list of positions that the school board members are slated to meet in an executive session to discuss hiring approvals:

• Early Childhood Center paraprofessional and 2 kindergarten teachers;

• a Child Nutrition driver;

• a Boomer Kids Club worker;

• a Middle School English teacher.

Beyond these hirings, the school board will vote on a number of routine items as part of its consent agenda, including monthly financial reports and encumbrances, personnel reports, and a fundraiser request for the WHS girls basketball team.

The consent agenda also includes a resolution calling on the Oklahoma Legislature to create a special funding situation for pension liability in the State of Oklahoma.  Schools across the state have been asked by the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration to adopt this resolution in an effort to prevent school districts from being held financially accountable for the unfunded liability in the state's teacher retirement system.
